Travel Forever

Jokulsarlon in Iceland taken by Huawei P9

You travel once, you travel forever because you relive the wandering moments every day.

I’m not complaining, but working at a startup is darn hard. You are constantly brainstorming and figuring it out.

Then you lose you.

Business is all about building a relationship with partners and customers. Character is what moves a person. But if you lose yourself, your business has no personality. There’s no fun it that.

Business is growing. That’s great. To make it grow even bigger, you have to find yourself.

So just go.

Let It Go
Walking along the endless canal of Bruges, I looked up and all was blue. I spotted a jet up in the sky. Time flew, but the plane could not go far because the sky was forever.

God! I felt free and it was heavenly. Since I work in a small company, there is always fear that your mistake will turn into something big. It’s difficult to forgive yourself for the flaws.

But the sky told me to be more forgiving to myself and also others so I can move on quickly. No more overthinking. No more putting too much meaning into everything.

I agreed.

Be Fearless
Walk. Explore. Talk to people. Walk some more. Take chances. Be fluent in being alone.

None of my travels were planned and I was travelling solo. This made me fearless.

I started talking to new people who had good ideas of where I should head to and that’s where I would be the next day.

Being alone allowed me to go anywhere on a whim and it was daring. The bolder I was, I was able to see more.

There were times when I hit a snag. I had to go to Antwerp from Brussels but I did not have my ticket printed and the machines at the print shops were all broken. I was amazing at how much I stayed calm and carefully looked for solutions. Luckily, I made it to Antwerp and had the best tiramisu that Europe can offer.

In the moment
Leaving your hectic life behind allows you to appreciate the world more. I wanted to live in the moment to the fullest so I paid attention to everything big and small.

Time and money will never be enough in travelling. The list of places to go never ends. I will always feel like I could add one more stop.

But everything is nothing.

So I decided to believe where I am now is the best place and who I am with now is the best person in the world.

Whether we’re chasing the northern lights in Iceland or our dreams in reality, we are always travelling. But to make this journey beautiful, we have to remember to say focused, independent, fearless, calm and easy-going.

So let’s go.

More business with same fleet size

Easiway

Think Big

Competition motivates companies to improve, but we also need cooperation to bring balance that creates strategic synergy. At the end of the day, cooperation substantially can bring better results. There should be days when you don’t have to sleep with one eye open. Let’s live a little, shall we?

We have created soon-to-be-launched Easishare Management System, or EMS, that allows rental car companies to be committed to a win-win sense of mission.

EMS allows rental car companies to track, manage and assign drivers and vehicle to serve orders. It’s basically a tool to make their daily duties easy.

There’s a gem hidden inside, you see.

You can add your partnering supplier and when there is an order that you can’t serve, you can simply toss it to your trustworthy partnering supplier and gain commission. It’s borrowing their available resources when you are out of supply. How can you say no to extra cash?

Exchanging orders enable rental car companies to serve more orders without increasing their fleet size.

In China, such exchange happen on a daily basis. In the time of need, rental car companies help each other out. Dispatchers reach their competitors-slash-cooperators to seek available cars and drivers through WeChat.

All we did was bring this norm to an integrated platform where trading order is only few clicks away. Plus, the monetary issues can be taken care of digitally. No pen and paper needed.

We believe such a union of small- and mid-sized rental companies can cooperate to gain momentum in China’s car-booking market dominated by heavyweights.

What these rental companies are offering is quality service. Booked a ride? Their drivers will pick you up at your requested time and place. The rides? They are kept in pristine quality. And what we at Easi6 Limited are doing is connecting these service providers with other providers, their hired proffessional drivers and valued customers. Bookings can be made through Easiway app.

We have heard their voices. They feel like they have no chance in winning. They are barely keeping their faces above water. We want the providers to join this union and create bigger business by working together.

We believe that the balance of competition and cooperation will make a healthier market.

Easiway all the way

A new year is upon us. The air is fresher, the sky is bluer and the night is dreamier.

We hope your holidays were splendid.

Some of us at Easiway spent it winning on a Netflix marathon or diving into the warm bosom of our living room couch. Others were more out there on diamond shores of Vietnam or hunting the northern lights in Iceland.

2017’s finally here and Easiway is more than ready to ride with you.

We will continue to help you to move as planned on your schedule seamlessly.

With our cross-border shuttle service, we want you to get home to your families in time for dinner because you can book tickets ahead and save a seat.

Not only that, we want you to commute across the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen at an affordable price with ticket prices starting from 38 CNY.

On our premium chauffeured rides, we want you to stay focused on business until you arrive. Just so you know, we offer rides that cross the border and those that don’t.

After a long flight, we want you to transfer to your hotel hassle free with the help of Easiway’s professional chauffeurs.

We want everyone to travel Hong Kong and Shenzhen area easily even if you are not a fluent Chinese speaker. Our services are available in English, Korean and Chinese.

We will continue to make your travel better and seek solutions. We are currently building a platform aimed at connecting transport operators so our pool of rides will grow for you.

It will take a while, but we are getting there. Taking small steps at a time, we will look back and see how much we have accomplished soon enough.

Since it’s a new year, we are allowed to say something cheesy. So here it goes:

Dear valued customers,

Thank you for sticking around.

This year will be great for us and it will be marvelous for you, too. We just can feel it in our bones.

We can’t say this enough: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Faithfully yours,

That hopefully perches in the soul of our customers,
And drives the tune without the words,
And never stops at all.

What do you think of when you see a bird?

We think of freedom, absence of barrier, speed, easiness, friendliness and movement. Everything that defines Easiway.

To make things even better, we added the vibrant color of green mint in our logo to exude the delight of freshness and lightness.

And, voila!

Easiway Logo

Easiway makes your ground travel a seamless one on your schedule, even across the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. We offer premium chauffeured rides and cross-border shuttles that travel in the two regions.

Select time, date, locations and you’re good to go. Easy as 1-2-3. Also, our service is available in Chinese, English, Korean and Japanese so travelling is more approachable. We understand that China can be challenging especially for foreign travelers.

The idea of a bird flew into our minds when one of Easiway’s earliest members gave a beautiful ceramic bird to Kay, our CEO, as a token of “Let’s make this new business fly!” It’s funny how a small act of appreciation can lead to a brand.

The bird’s still dangling in our office window as we speak. It may be small, but it symbolizes why we started this business. We want to make people move as planned.

Easiway Bird

This logo not only represents the product, but also the culture that its makers breathe in.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, where you’re from or when you joined the team. We love how anyone can bring new ideas to the table and no one will make it seem less important.

It’s lovely how we can also build  a new culture of a company aimed at bettering a travelling solution for our customers.

We listen. We share. We communicate. We try hard to keep this culture alive.

How immigration check works between Hong Kong, Shenzhen?

Easiway No Hassle

We get it. It’s your first time to cross the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. You’re worried. It’s only natural.

So which Easiway service are you planning to use?

Thank you, Google Map.

Thank you, Google Map.

Easiway Chauffeured Rides
You will either pass through Shenzhen Bay or Huanggang Port. Which control point you will pass through is determined by what time your trip is and how many passengers are riding, among other reasons.

Don’t worry. The process is similar.

When you get on the cross-border van, the driver will ask for your passports and immigration documents. You need to fill in these documents for both ways, Hong Kong to Shenzhen and Shenzhen to Hong Kong. These forms will be given by the driver. Of course, you need valid travel documents, including Chinese Visa, to get immigration checks without having to get off.

At the border, the vehicle will go through a gate that looks similar to tollgates. At the gate, the driver will hand over your passport to the person in charge and open the doors so the person can match your face to the given documents.

This process will happen twice on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen side, respectively.

For chauffeured rides, you can get on and off at your selected locations.

Easiway Shuttle Map

Shuttle Buses
Shuttle bus rides pass through Shenzhen Bay or Man Kam to Control Points. Both immigration checks will take place by foot.

After you get on at your selected shuttle stop, you will have to get off at the control point with all your belongings.

At Shenzhen Bay, two rounds of immigration checks will take place in one building.

At the Man Kam to Control Point, get off for the first immigration check. Re-ride the bus to head to the second one. You will pass by this control point if you start from Hong Kong Airport on a shuttle bus.

After your second check is over, you will get on the shuttle bus again to go to your final destination. If the control point is your final destination, you can take off from there.

Shuttle Vans
The shuttle vans pass through Shenzhen Bay.

After you get on the van at your selected starting point, you do not have to get off until your drop off stop. Both immigration will take place in the vehicle.

When you hop on, the driver will ask for your passports and immigration documents. You need to fill in these documents for both ways, Hong Kong to Shenzhen and Shenzhen to Hong Kong.

At the border, the vehicle will go through a gate that looks like tollgates. Here, the driver will hand over your passports to the person in charge and open the doors so the person can match your face to the given documents.

This process will happen twice on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen, respectively.

Depending on what travel documents you are holding, the process may differ. But on normal circumstances, these are how the immigration checks are carried out.

For foreign travelers to Hong Kong, you need to fill in this document:

A room of one’s own for females at startups

Easiway

Step inside our office. I’m easy to spot because the only girl there is me. Yeah, you guessed right. I’m not a developer.

What’s that like?
Well, at first you do a little feel left out when everyone else is hustling each other on the Play Station, being guys! But soon enough, you find yourself joining the game and doing not bad.

You also get to feel less guilty for being too full to finish your lunch because someone will take it. FACT: Men eat more than women. ….Well okay, most of the time.

You’re flattered when not one, but THREE brainy developers go out their way to help you just to get your new desktop up and running. It’s super fast and the most high-end program I regularly use is Microsoft’s Excel. It’s just awesome. I have the best computer in the world.

It’s not always rainbows and butterflies
Developers are creators every day and as the log knows it, there’s always evidence. But for marketers and PR specialists like myself, we build relationships and our effort doesn’t always meet the eyes.

It’s a bummer, but sometimes we feel like we are not contributing enough.

While talking to a bunch of people at startup networking events, I realized that the majority of those who battle with this feeling are women. It’s no secret that women account for a very small percentage of the world’s software developers. Many of them are pressured to prove something like the developers do.

It also a bummer that being a girl means that it’s sometimes harder to get attention.

Last year, I was in charge of a booth at a startup conference. One of our developers was kind enough to help out with the heavy lifting. I was supposed to do most of the talking but whenever he contributed to the conversation (which I have no problem with), I just could feel all of the visitors’ attention getting locked to him. Their body would gradually turned away from me. He is a buff, tall and older guy. That’s everything I’m not.

So, so what!
The real demon reveals its face if you let it bother you. It’s easier said than done. But if your team believes in you, the battle is won.

Communicate. Then, your boss and teammates will understand that your efforts takes its time to surface. Share what you have been doing and why simply over lunch or coffee. Those who matter will value you and your work.

Well, if your team doesn’t? Something’s terribly wrong.

How do you make your team believe in you?
Public Relations was the only area I was familiar with when I stepped foot in this company. But in the beginning, there was nothing to talk about to the press or public. The aforementioned OH-MY-GOD-I-AM-SO-WORTHLESS phase took me away.

Resenting the defeat, I started testing our Easiway app hundreds of times, constantly showering the developers with questions. Because the app allows users to book cross-border rides between Hong Kong and China, it’s quite complicated, especially for first timers. Complex immigration check regulations, visa issue and so much more are involved.

I was devoted to understand the whole picture and help users to feel at ease during the booking and traveling process. Many of our customers are foreigners and they tend to get dazed and confused by the border crossing. So was I.

It was a tedious process, but I was determined. I have helped customers so many times that they shared constructive feedback. I voiced it to the developers and they would listen and reflect it on the product. I found myself contributing to our business every day.

And, now I have evolved into a service designer. Thanks to my passion for this service and our customers, all the things that needed to be done by a service designer came naturally to me.

With confidence, I can say that my teammates believe in me as I do in them. With their support, I am growing and making a difference and gender has nothing to do with it.
